I didn’t discover the wonderful world of blogging until after I became a mum and sometimes wish I’d found it sooner. But now that I’m both a mummy and a blogger, I’ve found that blogging actually makes me a better mum. Here’s why…
5 ways blogging makes me a better mum…
I’m following my own passion
I adore being a mummy and my kids always come first. But every mama needs to have their own thing going on too. Blogging enables me to follow my own passion of writing and being creative. I have built an outlet for all of my thoughts and creative ideas. Since I started blogging I have also learned so many new skills, from setting up a blog to photography and SEO. I never stop learning.
I treasure memories and moments
Of course all of us mummies treasure moments with our little ones. But I feel that since starting the blog I am more reflective about our family life and the moments I have with my children. By photographing, blogging and recording many of my memories, somehow it helps me to treasure them more. I also enjoy reflecting on moments I am grateful for in a weekly gratitude list.
I plan fun activities to do together
Of course I like to think I would plan fun activities for my children with or without the blog… ha ha! As a stay at home mum I find it’s all about a balance between planning some activities to do together as well as encouraging independent play. Both are important. However I do find that since I have started the blog I have planned more fun things to do with my children, especially baking activities, that I might have otherwise not done. Having the blog is like an added incentive to do fun activities and make fun memories. I think having the blog generally makes me more reflective and aware of how I spend my time with my children.
I plan my time better
Blogging is important to me, so I try to plan the time for it. I have to carve the time around looking after my children and other things I have going on in my life. In blogging there is always something that you can do, so I have to plan and prioritise my blogging activities. By planning my blogging time, I feel that I also plan the rest of my time better. I’ve stopped trying to do everything at once. I have learned that I can’t do everything. So I plan. I prioritise. I do the things that I want to do and don’t worry about the things I don’t have time for (usually house work – ha!)
I am happier!
It sounds like an exaggeration, but I am happier! As a full time mummy, blogging has given me more confidence in myself. It has given me something to focus on where I can feel like ‘me’ and not just ‘mummy’. This has made me feel happier as a person and a happier mummy too! Everyone knows a happier mummy is a better mummy! I love having my own little project that I am passionate about. I also think it is important as my children get older for them to see that I have my own passions and interests too. I hope they will find something they love doing as much as I love blogging!
Are you a blogger and a mum? How do you think blogging makes you a better parent?

Couldn’t agree more! I think of so much more things we can do, or get tips from other blogs. It’s made me a much better mum.

I agree! I’m definitely happier being a SAHM since I started blogging. Plus I do things with the girls that I may not have done, through the opportunities we are given. I also have more photos of the four of us that I wouldn’t have had x #TheList

I love this post and couldn’t agree more! I began my blog to help my recovery from PND, which it did, but it is now so much more. It really does keep me sane and give me inspiration for activities with my son 🙂 #thelist
